Getting around Wayanad

Distances inside Wayanad are longer than people expect. Kalpetta to Muthanga is 40km, to Banasura 25km the other direction, to Edakkal 25km south. A day here without a car covers one sight, not three.

Banasura Sagar DamIndia's largest earth dam, with islands formed in the reservoir.

October to May. The sanctuary and trek routes close intermittently in peak monsoon and in fire season.

Yes, through Muthanga or Bandipur. Note that the Bandipur night traffic ban runs 9pm to 6am.
