Getting around Vagamon

The sights here sit along one ridge road — Pine Forest, Suicide Point, Mundakayam ghat viewpoint, Kurisumala, Vagamon Lake. A car makes the whole loop in half a day. Autos do not run this stretch and there is no local bus worth waiting for.

Best time to visit

September to February. The meadows are greenest right after the monsoon. Mist closes in by 4pm through the winter months.

Nearest airport. Cochin International Airport (COK) — 105km, about 3 hours via Kothamangalam or Kottayam.

Is Vagamon a day trip from Kochi?

It works as one — three hours each way and a half-day loop. An overnight is better if you want the morning mist.

Can we combine Vagamon with Thekkady?

Yes. Vagamon to Thekkady is 75km, around 2.5 hours. A common two-stop hill itinerary.

Is the road good?

Mostly. The final climb from Erattupetta is narrow with tight bends. A smaller car is easier here than a tempo traveller.

Does paragliding run all year?

No. It depends on wind and the operator. Do not book a trip around it without confirming first.
