Varkala is the cliff beach — laterite bluffs dropping straight to the sand, with a strip of cafes along the top. It is quieter than Kovalam and has become the long-stay choice for travellers who want weeks rather than nights.
Getting around Varkala
North Cliff is pedestrian-only along most of its length, so cars stop at the Helipad ground or the Cliff road entrance. We drop as close as vehicles are allowed and point you the right way down.
